BACKGROUND:

Melanie comes from a rather wealthy forging family, whose fame and fortune was built upon their skill in infusing lyss into a variety of items and products. She desperately wanted to follow in their footsteps, but that dream was dashed for the young woolyne when the Rift appeared. An unfortunate victim who was sucked into a rift randomly off the streets- Melanie was quite fortunate to have been found rather quickly and brought back relatively unharmed, but was forever changed. Not only had the color of her hair and fur changed but her mouth had become almost jagged and dragonesque, with occasional streams of lyss flicking out like a flame, while flowers just seemed to randomly be sprouting from her hair. Unable to handle these new changes and not wanting to be seen by those she knew- her family sent her away to rest and recover- hoping that their separation would be brief, but time has proven otherwise.  She now works as a surprisingly successful potion maker- making most of her money by potions she ships out across Andras and sells in her new home.

PERSONALITY:

Melanie is intelligent. proud, vain, insecure, inventive, and attentive- her hard work has almost always paid off for her and she's aware of how her skills and knowledge set her apart from her other potion-producing peers. She will happily brag about all the things she can do- she's quite good at coming up with multiple ways to produce the same potion and finding ways to make subtle variations with extra care or time. Melanie is very praise oriented- the more praise you give her the better the potions she tends to produce- however it's a double-edged sword; potions produced while Melanie is riding a praise high tend to be 20% stronger than her usual stock, while potions made while she has been scolded or feeling insecure may not last as long or not produce as dramatic effects. Melanie in particular is very sensitive about her looks- specifically the florette's and the lyss pneumir, often resulting in her using her own  products to conceal her own perceived flaws

Family:
- Her family is still alive and well, but as merchants with such a large trade network they're often on the move. However, for every three letters her family often writes to their daughter she tends to only reply with one. It has led to all parties feeling a bit estranged from one another- and although they want to be closer it's a bit difficult given Melanie's current emotional/mental state and their frequent travels.
