Taking a wrong turn had been inevitable. Something Alorus hadn't realized was going to happen until he'd been so deep he could no longer pull out, so distracted about where he was, where he was going, that when he finally looked up, he'd realized the whole forest looked exactly the same to him. Slightly frustrated he hadn't taken Elron with him on his exploration, he turned to look at his mount. The Drakern was beside him, blinking lazily, completely unaware, or perhaps unbothered by the recent turn of events.
"Right... well then," sighing to himself, mostly because he was well aware the temps would likely drop down to freezing, the woolyne rubbed the Drakern's beak and set out to get some logs. He figured that even if fire was not his best affinity, he should be able to light a campfire that would both help keep him decently warm, and may alert other woolyne of his presence. He figured the smoke may be seen by some random people nearby, or if no random people were near then... well, he wouldn't freeze at least, right?
The biggest problem was that the wood he was collecting was damp, and Alorus once again sighed. He would have to work on drying the wood off with lyss, once he and Corbin gathered enough.
Then, he would have to find a nice place that was at least... partially covered, to be able to spend the night at. A cave would be ideal but some sort of mountainside, with a rock to serve as ceiling would be enough. Somewhere to break the wind, and keep him relatively safe.
Thankfully, finding such a place was decently easy, and once Corbin had settled down, Alorus snuggled against the Drakern's side to share heat, and then sat himself to dry off the wood systematically with Lyss. It was a chore; the magic did not come easily to him, he'd noticed, unless he was evoking void, but other than being a mildly frustrating exercise, no issues were encountered. Lighting the fire was a step harder, and it took him a while for sure, fur Alorus eventually managed to set the logs aflame, and settled against his mount.
He was not comfortable, but he also did not freeze, so he counted it as a win, when morning broke and both he and Corbin were... not exactly happy, but at least alive and well enough to go find help.
