Winter was... well, not Wei's favorite season by a long shot, but he figured it could, at the end of the day, be worse. Summer was much more asphyxiating than winter, with it's cold and its snow, and though if he had to pick he likely would have picked autumn... it could be worse, at the end of the day. The only thing he would have changed about winter was the strange disposition woolyne seemed to acquire the moment the season was upon them.
It wasn't that he was particularly grumpy, or perhaps he was? He couldn't rightly tell anymore, but something about the way people around seemed to be more cheerful bothered him. Not because they were cheerful, mind you, that wasn't the point; it was that Wei felt like a lot of wool around him weren't really as cheerful as they projected, and that half of their helpful disposition come the season was less because they wanted to, and more because they felt they had to be like that to fit into the crowd.
A chore, really.
Granted, he was well aware not everyone was like that, and in fact, he knew a lot of wool that were, specifically not like that, but the point still stood, as far as he was concerned. He didn't like the idea of having to change his disposition for the season, and he wasn't entirely sure he liked the idea of people gifting him just because they had to.
Didn't that... technically defeat the purpose of a gift? Wasn't a gift supposed to be freely given, and not something you felt you had to give to someone? Didn't it destroy the soul of the reason for gifting, when one did it out of duty to the season and date, and not because they just had the itch to do so? Something about it didn't quite sit right with him, and as he watched people run left to right as he say watching from a window, he scrunched his nose in distaste.
He also couldn't quite walk away from the holiday and not gift; it was, as he'd figured, a duty almost. A fact that didn't quite sit right in the pit of his stomach, but still a fact he had to assimilate and process. He would have to work with what he'd been given, he supposed.
With a sigh and a roll of his eyes, he figured he should get on with it, and start. Better sooner than later. Time to get some gift, he supposed.
