Having brought the small kiritsune back to Titan, it was promptly decided that the best course of action was to indeed reunite it with its herd, given it had not been poached, stolen away, and nor did it have an owner. The trek to Crescent Lake was not something Sheng had thought he would be doing, and he hadn't really ever been fond of leading or otherwise figuring his way around with a map. That's what Xiaovi was there to do after all, given the larger Woolyne was less directionally challenged.
However, he hadn't had time to warn his friend, and in the process of trying to find said friend, all he'd managed was to lose time and be there late to meet Titan back up again. Having excused himself profusely, Sheng had trailed after the lop eared wool, the kiritsune still firmly in his arms, where it remain nestled most of the trek, not even wanting to look up as they scaled the landscape.
His Lumiar remain with him, his only consolation about travelling with a wool he didn't know or was friends with; the bird nestled against the side of his head and when it sensed its owner's anxiety peaking, it would thrill softly, often catching the attention of the kiritsune, which looked up with curiosity at the bird.
Looking down at the critter in his arms, making sure that Titan was out of ear reach and thus, could not hear him, Sheng spoke out loud, "I have been wondering how you managed to get lost and separated from your herd," a soft thrill from the bird came up, and Sheng nodded his head, "After all, this lake is quite far from where I found you... and it wouldn't be an easy stroll down from here to get to where I found you."
Once again, like every time he had spoken to the creature, it seemed to perk up and pay attention, but didn't quite seem to understand what he was saying to it. There was clearly a language barrier, but on some level, the creature seemed to understand the tone, or perhaps the underlying message through his general movements and facial expressions, because it made a soft sad noise and looked off into the distance.
"We're getting closer now, hold onto it tight! It wouldn't do if it got scared and ran away from us at the last leg of the journey, now would it?" Titan's jovial words resounded from up ahead as they walked further up ahead, and soon enough, the landscape opened up from the previous trail. The landscape was, admittedly, beautiful, even in the daylight, which Sheng was not want to favor over the night time, "Hmmm, seems the herd may be eating nearby, but not quite here yet. We may as well pull back a short distance down the trail and wait for nightfall; they're bound to return, I bet, and at that point you can reunite the young one with its parents."
Nodding to Titan, Sheng made his way to set up camp, kiritsune still held tight.
