Water-Gun Shoot-Out
“Are you sure you want to do this? I won’t go easy on you, you know. You haven’t seen the least of what I can do,”
“Oh, so you think you’re better than me, huh.” Erin huffed as she crossed her arms indignantly. “You haven’t seen what I can do either, Rowan.”
“Get prepared to be slaughtered then,” Rowan drawled as he picked up and shouldered the obnoxiously large water gun. Eryn did the same, rolling her eyes at him in the process, and they turned to face the wooden target boards. It was painted to be a scene of Ur-Bahn, except there were little fires everywhere set by cheeky little dragon-like creatures painted in all the shades of flames. Their job was to “put them out” using the water guns.
“ARE YOU READY?” The gamerunner yelled, holding up a little flag emblazoned with the Mazri symbol.
Rowan and Eryn both nodded in agreement, fingers on the triggers, eyes on the prize.
“GO!” He dropped the flag and the 2-minute timer began to count down.
They both unleashed a surprisingly strong stream of water towards the painted targets. Eryn was the first to hit one, the little board swinging over backwards with a ding of a bell to indicate she had won a point! The lyss-infused scoreboard automatically updated to reflect her early lead.
Rowan began to make a comeback, but it was going to be close. The bells rang out more frequently as the time ran down, both desperate to take victory from the other. They were both laser-focused until the last second. The gamerunner blew a whistle to end the round and the scoreboard froze.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,” Eryn wailed, dropping to her knees.
“OH YEAH!” Rowan exclaimed, punching his fist into the air in celebration. “I WON, I WON, I WON! You’re a loser!” He chanted, pointing a finger at Eryn.
Without missing a beat, she turned her water gun on him and drenched him.
“That’s enough, that’s enough!” The gamerunner plucked the gun out of Eryn’s paws, ending her tirade on Rowan. She huffed, then began giggling at the sight of a very soggy Rowan trying to wring out his fur.
“Please, pick your prize,” The gamerunner addressed Rowan and gestured to the row of soft toys and candy hanging across the front of the tent.
“I think you should get the Lizargo one, it looks mean, like you”
“Oh shut up.” He playfully put his hand over Eryn’s mouth. “I’ll have the green fel-vern plushie, please.” Rowan said to the gamerunner, who got it down from where it was hanging using a little bit of air lyss. He handed it to Rowan, who was grinning like a child
“Thank you for playing, but please move on, I’ve got a whole queue waiting!”
The two woolyne obliged and moved aside. Rowan hugged his prize tight.
“You’re not going to steal this” He warned Eryn. “It’s mine.”
“Then I demand a rematch later”
“Fine. I’ll just beat you again though.”
“You only won by one point. I wouldn't be so sure.”
“We’ll just have to see then, won’t we?”
“Come on, the carazul roping is about to begin. I don’t want to miss it!”
Eryn and Rowan fight it out at a water shooter game stall at the Mazri Festival.
